[LIVE REVIEW] Hospitality Halloween

Hospitality Halloween 2018
When: Friday 26th October
Where: Motion, Bristol
Who: High Contrast, S.P.Y, Camo & Krooked, Etherwood

Drum and bass and Halloween go together like vodka and coke, and this year at Bristol’s world-famous Motion, it was certainly no different. Once again stopping by for a welcomed takeover, Hospital Records brought its high rollers and big hitters, supported by selectors from Spearhead, Metalheadz and Full Cycle.

With bookings in both Bristol and London, High Contrast headed up Room 1 with an early midnight set, of which many were disappointed to miss. It’s safe to assume this was the same reason for a no-show for his b2b set with S.P.Y and Nu:Tone, which was on the disappointing side.

Elsewhere, Randall provided arguably the night’s highlight, with a formidable onslaught of drops, rolls and hard-hitting bass. With support on the mic, Dynamite once again showed why he’s among the best in the biz.

Particular praise belongs to Inja, who’s quickly become one of the most electrifying MCs in the game. Spurred on by the supergroup status of Kings of the Rollers, Inja provided a never-ending supply of lyricism and flow, barely stopping for breath along the way.

Motion, Halloween and Hospitality events are always tipped to be unmissable events, and Friday was proof that all three continue to cement themselves as driving forces within the scene. Keep your eyes peeled for the next one.

Motion’s winter season is now in full flow, with tickets flying off the shelf for events hosting the likes of Shy FX, Flying Lotus, Mr Scruff and Run x Playaz. Grab yours from the Motion website.
