Lineup Update: Glastonbury 2014

With the [near] full Glastonbury lineup finalised today (8th May) it seemed fitting to take a look at the revisions and additions to the world famous festival’s lineup.

The final headline act set to join Arcade Fire and Kasabian is Metallica, not everybody’s cup of tea, but of course it’s a massive household name. Further big names added to the lineup include the one-and-only Ellie Goulding andbritish dance/electro pioneer Fatboy Slim, three piece girl rock group HAIM mark their return to Worthy Farm, as well as ska/reggae crossover group The Beat.

What we’re forgetting is that the lineup is already incredibly strong- The Black Keys, Chance The Rapper, CHVRCHES, James Blake, M.I.A., Disclosure, Lana Del Rey and Skrillex are just some of the acts already announced, I personally didn’t even need much more, but here comes even further incredible acts added- LA rock group Imagine Dragons mark their debut at the festival, and let me tell you, they’re incredible, ’old-timer’ Billy Bragg leads The Left Field with his notorious vocals, as well as the likes of Ella Eyre, St Vincent, Sam Smith and the [somehow popular] Kaiser Chiefs.

As an avid rap fan, I’m still a tad disappointed with this year’s selection, just one more rapper would have rounded up the lineup as one of the best I’ve seen in a while. However, the variation of genres, the variation of fresh-to-renowned acts, and the variation of act-per-stage is something the rest of the festival world can look upon with admiration.

Following the announcement, I pieced together a Spotify playlist of all my favourites:
