When: Saturday 3rd September
Where: The Downs, Bristol
Who: Jamie xx, Chemical Brothers, Caribou Little Simz + many more
Back in 2016, trip hop legends Massive Attack partnered with Team Love and Crosstown for the inaugural Downs Festival in Bristol. And ever since then, The Downs has welcomed in a worthy range of international talent, artists that were perhaps just out of reach for the smaller South West fests like NASS and Love Saves The Day.
For 2022 The Downs has rebranded to Forwards, and doubled in size to host two days of musical delights. And in what could be one of the biggest bills in Bristol’s history, Jamie xx headlines on Friday night while the mighty Chemical Brothers lead the lineup on Saturday.
With wide-ranging sounds draped across both days of the lineup, Forwards slots nicely between the worlds of indie and electronica, with sprinklings of nostalgia and a healthy helping of up-and-coming acts.
An artist in a field of her own creation, Little Simz joins Jamie on Saturday with support from the sleepy stoner stylings of Las Vegas group, Khruangbin. Fred Again, Floating Points and a live set from Overmono round off an impressive first day at Forwards.
Roisin Murphy, Sleaford Mods and Caribou slot in behind the Chems on Sunday, with a rare outing from space rockers, Spiritualized among the highlights from Sunday.
Tier 3 tickets are available from the Forwards website now
