Mainsquare Festival is France’s answer to Reading & Leeds- it’s ultimately, and historically, a rock festival that has recently began to branch out into other genres to cater to a wider audience. Previous acts to have headlined the festival include Linkin Park, Kanye West, Coldplay and Jamiroquai so as you might imagine the lineup’s are always something to look forward to. Located in Arras, France Mainsquare festival runs from 3rd – 6th July.
Headliners at 2014’s Mainsquare Festival include Iron Maiden, Skrillex and France’s very own, David Guetta. Three huge acts that you can’t go wrong with, along with the headliners, further big names include The Black Keys, Imagine Dragons, Disclosure, Franz Ferdinand, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975, London Grammar and MGMT. So as you can see the lineup’s pretty sublime, with a decent amount of variation, from established to new stars, there’s a lot for attendees to enjoy.
Mainsquare is located in Arras, France. Something worth noting about the festival’s location is that it’s directly halfway between three major cities- Paris, Brussells and London, this means it won’t cost the world to get there, it also means it’s more than possible to take the train there as apposed to splashing out on plane tickets. Interestingly, the festival’s campsite isn’t onsite with the stages, it’s a fifteen minute walk away and might be something to think about before parting with your dosh. As a standalone price, four nights camping from the 3rd – 6th is a mere 25euros.
I’m seconds away from buying myself a ticket to Mainsquare, the lineup is right up my street and popping over to France isn’t exactly tricky or expensive. Another massive selling point is that a full festival ticket with camping for four days is only a measly £117, you cannot go wrong when it’s also this great value for money.
