LOVE SAVES THE DAY 2019
Where: Eastville Park, Bristol
When: 25th – 26th May
Who: Lily Allen, Chase & Status, Bonobo, Peggy Gou
For festival fans, the late May Bank Holiday is a landmark day in the calendar. Where it all begins for another year – the unofficial commencement of the season and the summer. We Are FSTVL, Dot to Dot and All Points East are just some of the events hosted over the weekend, but Bristol’s Love Saves The Day was the place to be.
Shy FX’s rightful promotion to main stage was once again well received, drawing in a huge crowd – the biggest seen at LSTD in years. Ross From Friends then delivered what would be the set of the weekend, with a stellar live rendition of his muddy lo-fi house.

Kojey Radical and slowthai then backed up their meteoric rises with strong sets on the all-new Paradiso Stage, before Maribou State took things down a notch with a welcomed snoozy fuzz of electronica. Against a backdrop of a warm afternoon sunset, Palms Trax followed, rounding off Saturday with a vibey, tropical outro.
Despite the threat of rain, the sun persisted into Sunday afternoon, with DJ Seinfeld, Friction, Mella Dee and Peggy Gou taking advantage with sun-kissed selections of sound. The latter’s acid rework of At Home was among the highlights of the weekend. DJ Die and Inja smashed their afternoon set in the tucked-away Lost Gardens, before it was over to a combo of Chase & Status and Dennis Sulta to see us all home.

Love Saves The Day continues to reach and exceed the bar its set itself with every instalment. Little tweaks and additions, plus a line-up that continues to be among the best in the country, keep the event fresh and current, while retaining its trademark ‘love all’ vibe and aura. A no-brainer of an event, one all should consider as their first of 2020.
