[FESTIVAL PREVIEW] Field Day

Field Day 2022
When: Saturday 20th August
Where: Victoria Park, London
Who: Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Peggy Gou, Floating Points + many more

Field Day has suffered something of an identity crisis as of late, as a result of the pandemic and many other factors. What was once one of the most cutting edge festivals around, one that truly championed tomorrow’s talent, has evolved into a much more of an everyman electronica event. After being passed around by Broadwick Live and AEG, and swapped from the former’s short-lived Drumsheds to the latter’s All Points East, Field Day is a world away from the event Londoners once knew.

As a result of the aforementioned fiasco, last year’s Field Day felt somewhat thrown together. And as good as the lineup was, it was evidently a group of electronic acts thrust onto bigger band-based stages. Bicep’s colossal live A/V show was still an absolute triumph, but smaller acts and DJs like DJ Seinfeld and Ross From Friends were not designed for stages primed for the likes of Jorja Smith or Bombay Bicycle Club.

And with its second instalment of ‘All Points East presents Field Day’, it looks like this may be a similar experience. The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk lead the lineup, with both acts boasting high production values, big visuals and vast sound that can all comfortably slot in to a setting like Field Day.

DJs and selectors make up the rest of the bill, alongside some unmissable live sets from Daniel Avery, Tourist, and the legendary Squarepusher.

Field Day 2022 makes a loud and proud shout for diversity, with special guest Peggy Gou slotting in underneath the headliners, and Logic1000, HAAi and an unmissable b2b from Emerald and Jossy Mitsu among the highlights.

Floating Points, a rare outing from salute, and a special Power To The People A/V show from french disco favourite Folamour round off an impressive 2022 lineup.

5th release tickets are on sale now for £70 from the Field Day website
