With respects to NASS and its organisers, a lot of you out there may have never heard of the Somerset-based shindig. But by no stretch of the imagination should you dismiss it, quietly building itself as an integral part of the UK festival scene, NASS continues to bring in some of the biggest names in music. However, the music is such a small part of this festival, the other side of its appeal are the ‘action sports’ on show.
‘NASS stands for action sports. We live to crash them all together under one roof, pitting the most hectic, current athletes from around the world against each other in our custom parks and courses.’ Just as it says, the action sports branch to NASS is arguably more of a selling point that its musical lineup, featuring riders in BMX, Skate, Inline, Scooter, FMX and MTB, there aren’t a lot of events that cater to such a wide audience. As well as this, on offer isn’t just a load of riders backflipping, the festival also has a ‘NASS Stall Yard’ – an area ‘filled with our favourite shops and brands on hand to talk all things BMX and offer advice and demo’s on all the latest gear, tech and hardware.’ Talk about a complete package.
That aside, the music is also as important at NASS. Boasting past performers of Nas and Cypress Hill’s caliber, 2015’s musical lineup is also as impressive. The three headliners on show in 2015 are about as diverse as I’ve seen in three headliners in a long time. The energetic-as-ever Enter Shikari, new collaborative trio Rebel Sound, comprised of Chase & Status, Shy FX and David Rodigan, as well as rap legends and pioneering behemoths Public Enemy. Besides the headliners, also on offer are a just-as-diverse array of supporting artists, Lethal Bizzle and Tempa T bring their high-octane take on grime to Somerset, High Contrast and Sigma are set to provide their DnB baselines, while the legendary rap producer Just Blaze also boasts a spot as NASS 2015.
As you can see, NASS Festival has a lot more on offer than six stages of musicians; the action sports arm of NASS is one of the most celebrated in the country. As well as this, the diversity in both areas you must give a great deal of credit to. From rock to rap to electronic music, all bases are covered, from BMX to Skate to MTB, all bases are once again, covered. To resurrect the old cliche- there really is something for everyone at NASS 2015. Full line up, including musicians and athletes below.
