[PREVIEW] winter 2018 at Motion

Continually ranked as one of the world’s most important and best-loved venues, Motion in Bristol has blessed us with its winter events schedule. Covering all avenues of the electronic music spectrum, from drum and bass to house and techno, the catalogue of artists and DJs performing at Motion this winter is all-encompassing to say the least. Here we take a look at some of the season’s highlights before it all kicks off next weekend.

Friday 28th September: Opening show – This is in:Motion
ft David Rodigan, Redlight, Friction, DJ Zinc, TC

Opening up the in:Motion proceedings later this month, will be the legend himself, David Rodigan, who plays with support from local-boy Redlight. Kurupt FM’s DJ Decoy, TC, DJ Zinc, and Pola & Bryson are among the supporting highlights, alongside Shogun Audio honcho Friction, who’ll be playing a very special two-hour set.

Saturday 20th October: RTRN II JUNGLE
Chase & Status (DJ Set), Dillinja, Conducta, Critical Impact

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for this summer, you’ll be all-too aware about Chase & Status’ ‘return to jungle’. After the lukewarm reception to their fourth studio album Tribe, everybody’s favourite DnB duo are returning to their hard-hitting junglist roots. With lowkey shows at Notting Hill Carnival and Hangar London Fields, coupled with the recently-released Retreat/Heater EP, expect this to be an all-new Chase & Status show, with hidden surprises, special guests, and plenty of dubplates!

Friday 26th October: Hospitality Halloween
ft High Contrast, Camo & Krooked, Fred V & Grafix, Danny Byrd

A season at Motion isn’t complete without a Hospitality takeover, and everybody’s favourite DnB label have brought the whole squad for a tasty Halloween treat. The night’s highlight comes in the form of a special jungle set, with a b2b outing from SPY, Nu:Tone and High Contrast, with Bristol boys Fred V & Grafix and DJ Krust also dropping by for a set. Label mainstays Danny Byrd, Camo & Krooked and Metrik wrap up proceedings, with Dynamite and GQ on the mics.

Saturday 3rd November: The Blast presents: Halloween Carnival of the Dead
ft Shy FX, CASISDEAD, Ed Rush, Foreign Concept, Children of Zeus

Heading up the bill for The Blast’s take on celebrating Halloween, is perhaps the most consistent and reliable DJ in the UK at the moment – Shy FX. Fresh from a typically hectic festival season, one that’s seen him play Boomtown, elrow, Lovebox and Boardmasters to name a few, Shy FX will be joined by the genre-skipping talent that is CASISDEAD. They’ll be supported by Foreign Concept, Halogenix, Kahn & Neek, and special guest Children of Zeus.

Saturday 10th November: Drumcode
ft Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Ida Engberg

Swedish techno pioneer Adam Beyer brings his revered Drumcode label to Bristol this November, for a very special night of dark driving techno. Beyer brings the rest of the Drumcode posse for support, with unmissable sets from Alan Fitzpatrick, Ida Engberg and Enrico Sangiuliano.

Wednesday 26th December: SASASAS presents: NXT LVL Boxing Day
ft SASASAS, The Prototypes, Logan D & Eksman, Bassboy

For a very special post-Christmas celebration, DnB supergroup SASASAS will be descending on Bristol for a long-awaited headline show.
