Love Saves The Day is a small-to-medium sized metropolitan festival based in my hometown, the south western city of Bristol. This non-camping event has been in fruition for the last six years, and this year’s event will be held on the 27th and the 28th of May, making it one of the first festivals of the UK calendar. Past performers at Love Saves The Day include the likes of Chic ft Nile Rogers, Chase & Status, Dizzee Rascal, Hot Chip, and Bonobo.
Love Saves The Day is a festival home to some of the electronic music industry’s most in-demand names, often bleeding into surrounding genres such as grime, hip-hop, alternative, and more. This year at LSTD, the names at the top of the bill are the critically-acclaimed and boundary-pushing electro four-piece Little Dragon, as well as one of the most celebrated live performers around- Fat Freddy’s Drop.
Saturday at LSTD gives you an array of choice, with the likes of Mura Masa, renowned high-octane performers Crazy P, Jamie Jones, and the Grammy-nominated Nao all set to perform. Sunday is where you’ll find some of the most in-demand names from all corners of music. Junglist legend Shy FX continues what is something of a residency, with yet another LSTD set, while some of grime’s most important figures, both fresh and established, are all booked in, including Kano, AJ Tracey, Novelist and D Double E. Also set to perform on Sunday, are new-wave jazz quartet BADBADNOTGOOD, heavy house hitters My Nu Leng, Kate Tempest, and local-girl Eva Lazarus.
Love Saves The Day has a lot to offer for a festival of its size. The city of Bristol is an amazing one to visit anyway, and the excuse of a festival is nothing short of a bonus. Besides the music, Love Saves The Day also boasts what is now a Glastonbury-LSTD exclusive- The Arcadia Afterburner, often referred to as ‘the spider’. Love Saves The Day is the perfect way to kick off your festival season, with a ticket yours for under £100 for both days of the event. What’s more, if only one day of the festival happens to grab your attention, then the option to buy a day ticket is also there too.
